Hey fruit bats! I think it’s only right to start my website by doing posts about fashion staples. Being plus size comes with a wealth of struggles both inside and outside of fashion; but especially in fashion. I always get tons of questions about the basics like jeans, undergarments, cotton t-shirts, ect. This post is all about my favorite plus size denim. I’m sharing my personal experiences with different brands, styles, and general fits in the hopes that it will help you all find your perfect fit and style.
Let me begin by describing my body shape in my own words. I would say I’m an apple body shape but with a defined waist. I’ve lost a little over 80 pounds in the last 9 months so my shape has changed a bit, but once an apple always an apple. I have very little (none actually…) ass and a considerably smaller chest than I used to have. My cup size hasn’t changed drastically, though I’ve lost a lot of extra “chest meat,” so basically less cleavage. I have always and will probably always carry the most of my weight through my tummy. This is where trolls like to get creative and talk about how I have an ass in the front and not in the back, I’m bursting the seams of my jeans, my gut is larger than the state of texas, yada yada yada. This is just the particular way in which my weight is carried on my 5’6″ frame. Someone else that is a few inches taller than I am with a voluptuous booty can weight the exact same amount as me and have a completely different shape and experience with denim, so please keep that in mind before you judge others or getting discouraged with yourself.
YOUR GIRL LOVES SKINNY JEANS. I used to be a die hard boot cut jeans girl, but over the years I have developed a love of the skinny. I was very unsure of this trend at first because of my body shape and some of those lovely comments I mentioned previously. Once I got out of my own mind and just tried it out, I freaking loved skinny jeans. I think there are three main skinny jeans I really love; let’s start from longest loved to newest.
Torrid’s Jeggings have always been top priority for me to have stocked in my closet. I have purchased countless pairs of these over the years in a variety of washes and colors. I think that the darker the wash the better they hold up (but I also feel like that’s true with most jeans.) I love the wider waistband of these jeans because as they wear through the day and stretch, they don’t move around so much sliding off of your hips. They also provide a little more tummy support which I am a fan of. The taper at the bottom of the jean is also a true skinny which gains extra points from me. I currently wear a size 24 in these jeans.
Next up I have the Premium Stretch Bombshell Skinny Jeans also from Torrid. I love these jeans for giving me the illusion of a booty! I honestly HAVE NOTHING. I’m your middle aged uncle with pancake cheeks, and in a world obsessed with junk in the trunk, it’s a little unfortunate. A huge thank you to these jeans for being the wonder push up bra my ass desperately needs. The cross seem on the butt really gives a nice illusion and the cut also kind of pushes your butt up a little more. They’re also not uncomfortable like I’m sure I’ve made them sound. A little less tummy support in these jeans than the jeggings, but there is still some. I currently wear a size 24 in these jeans.
Lane Bryant has FINALLY come through for us OG plus babes and created an actually fashionable and truly skinny jean. I am of course talking about the highly anticipated Super Stretch Skinny Jeans! These jeans hit the market and everyone and their mama was losing their shit. I was lucky enough to be gifted a pair of my choosing for social meadia-ing and since then have bought two other pairs. I LOVE these jeans! I will admit, they’re thinner than I would like to see, but they have held up beautifully thus far. These are what I consider to be sculpting jeans where they hold you in all of the right places but also help to lift. I am very impressed with the taper to the ankle on these jeans. And best of all, they come in short, long, and regular lengths! I can and cannot find petite/short length at Torrid depending on the season and the jean I’m after. With these particular jeans, Lane Bryant has chosen to come through for boys and girls of all shapes and sizes. I am literally 2/3 torso and a very humble 1/3 legs. I hate having to pay to get my jeans hemmed, but it is a necessary evil in order to be out here on these streets serving you tasty grams! I have these in a 24s.
My Favorite New Brand
So being a b/vlogger and social media influencer has definite benefits like being the first to know about new brands. Earlier this year I was able to try RWN by Rawan as a preview before they fully launched. It was then that I fell in love with the brand as a whole. I love what they stand for and the women they are catering to. I love their dedication to creating fashionable options for the plus community and the amazing quality of everything I have gotten. I can’t say enough good things about RWN so instead I’ll show you some pictures. ALSO I asked my friends at RWN if I could have a discount code for everyone and they kindly said yes! You can use “VICTORIA25” to save 25% on your entire order with no minimum. The code works on new launches and I do not earn commission on its use. Hopefully you guys can try out some pieces from RWM and let me know what you think!
Thank you all so much for reading and I hope this has given some of you boys and girls out here with a full tummy some ideas on denim to try. Let me know what your body shape is and your favorite jeans in a comment so everyone can find their perfect fit!
